With a houseguest coming for a few days, it was time to spruce up the spare room. Funny, it didn't seem like work, given there were pretty things to arrange.
The usual white sheets were in the wash (having an unexpected visitor a few nights ago) and the surprisingly warm day reminded me of these patterned ones. Ferns in the garden, ferns on the bed. Why not? It's still a long time until the snow comes!
My cousin jokingly says that a guest room shouldn't be so comfortable that the visitor wants to stay too long! The room may be small, but facing south, it's improved by lots of sunshine.
The wonderful quilt, made by my sister-in-law, certainly adds some cheery colour.
If the nights get chilly, there's a duvet at hand, as well as this multi-coloured quilt, made by my mother.
I do hope my guest doesn't mind a long-eared roommate, crafted by my niece. I had it tucked away for awhile, thinking I was much too old for a fabric bunny. Oh, well! I'm as young as I'm ever going to be, right?
Puttering about, I found myself appreciating the things around me, and the people who use this space. As a result, preparing the room wasn't a chore.
Warm Wishes,
Karen
That last sentence gave me a good chuckle! Who doesn't mind putting pretty sheets and a quilt on a bed. Cleaning a bathroom, now that's whole other thing altogether!
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things I ever purchased to outfit our guest room was a stand alone chrome towel rack from Home Sense. It was about $35. Now our guests have a place in their room to hang their guest towels at night.
Hi Karen
ReplyDeleteYour guest is going to fill right at home in this bedroom. The quilt is pretty and the bunny should stay in there. I'll show the bunny that sits on a chair in my room some time and the stuffed dogs I have. My granddaughter is proud of me having my own 'stuffys'. LOL

Your guest room is so pretty and cozy. Any guest would be happy to stay there. Dell and her sister, Sandy, came and spent the night with me last night. I had to clean the bathroom before they came and I hate doing that. But I kept saying, Dell is coming, Dell is coming, so it was not a chore.

Arranging pretty things is like cooking or baking; since you get to eat what you make at the end, it doesn't really seem like work :D The quilt is gorgeous and I can't believe your sister in law made it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt, enjoy your guest.
