A Little Foster Cat Miracle

A little miracle happened a few days ago when my foster cat, Hope, had her adoption finalized. She is with an incredibly kind woman, one who was not deterred by Hope's age (11 or 12) or health issues.

Rather, she was determined to adopt a cat who was older, one that she felt would be more likely to be passed over by others. She has cared for other animals with health concerns, both cats and dogs, and wants to do the same for Hope.

I've been amazed at all the plans she had to ensure a successful integration of Hope into her household, which included two dogs. Even before this puss crossed her threshold for an extended visit (which always happens prior to an adoption), she declared that the only reason she wouldn't keep Hope would be if she felt the cat wouldn't be safe with her dogs. Fortunately, all is well.

I'll miss my Hope-in-a-Box but am thrilled that she found such a wonderful home, after only about 7 weeks as a foster.

If you have ever considered fostering a cat or dog, I encourage you to look into it in your area. I've fostered cats just twice, so far, and each experience has been a gratifying one.

I'm pleased to linking with Judith for "Mosaic Monday" and sending her dog, Topaz, a scratch behind the ears.

Thank you for visiting. Have a lovely week.
-Karen

  1. Hope is such a beautiful cat and looks like she has a sweet disposition! I know her new owner will love her very much! I adopted an adult cat at 6 years old and he was the best cat who ever came into my life. He passed away last year at 15 years old, and miss him very much. I'd consider fostering a cat but I'm afraid I'd end up adopting each one--something my hubby would not like --lol! Someday in the future ,when my grandchildren are a little older, I'd like to adopt another cat.

  2. Aww what a nice new chapter in Hopes life. She is a lucky kitty to have found you and now her new forever home. Older pets are often ignored for adoption, it's such a shame. They can still be such loving companions.

  3. Such a lovely story. I'm so glad there are people around like the lady that adopted Hope. She is one lucky kitty ... first to have you to take her into your home and then to find a permanent loving home.

  8. I'm so happy for Hope. It is so wonderful to hear of senior cats getting a second chance at a permanent, loving home. I only adopted 'older' cats for years and never regretted it. Our Mr. Ed was the last senior we adopted but if I another cat is in my future (we presently have 4) it will most likely be an older one. They need love, too. Thanks for being a foster home to these precious cats. Deb

  13. Such a sweet and happy ending for Hope! So glad she found her 'forever' home. I have two rescue dogs that nobody wanted because of their 'behavior' issues, but I am happy to say - they are almost normal....Like me :) xo Karen

  18. I admire your giving nature to take in temporary kitties Karen. You must become attached to them but knowing they go to loving forever homes would make it easier to let them go. Topaz is delighted to have a scratch behind his ears passed on from you.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

  19. Lucky little Hope. Fostering pets is a wonderful, giving act, but I am afraid that I would get too attached. Hope will be happy in her new home.

  21. I am so glad for Hope and for you, she found the perfect place to live, it is such a cute little cat. You will miss her, but I am sure you soon get another foster cat. I am not sure I would be suitable because I should want to keep them all myself.
