I have plenty of rose hips in my back garden, along with the singing birds.
These New Dawn red spheres cover my blue arbour. They look rather straggly at this time of year, even when the sun shines. The canes, thorn-covered appendages, wave about in all directions as if to say, "Over here, Spring! Come over here!"
However,
with a little more sun
a little warm rain
and a few more months
(this is Canada, after all)
there will be a metamorphosis.
Patience.
The winter greys will pass.
Patience.
Colour and fragrance will return.
Patience.
They'll be a sky full of sunshine.
Patience.
There is still plenty to appreciate today.
The links, below, will offer you some sunny looks at the world.
While you're here, would you care to comment?
I love hearing from you!

Hello Karen
ReplyDeleteMy 'New Dawn' doesn't get rose hips that big, I'm going to have to give it more TLC. Great photo of the roses and clematis, I've done the same with mine over the arbour to the backyard. They make a nice combination of colour.
Thanks for hosting.
Judith
Beautiful photos! Thanks for the encouragement. It's not very springlike out there tonight. :) Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed a beautiful sight to see. I love berries and touches of red and orange. Thanks for the reminder. Have a Sunlit week. I hope we all do.

The berries look so enchanting! As you drift into Spring, we are facing the Autumn colours!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I love the rose hips and the clematis and roses. My clematis is dripping with ice cycles right now.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'm going to get a post together for this week or not. It's a really busy but great weekend.
Hello,Karen.
ReplyDeleteThe rose hips are so pretty!I feel as if I can hear many birds singing around the rose hips.
I finally joined you. Thank you for your help.

Very nice photos. Yes, I'm showing patience today as I wait for the sun to give me some nice photos to share this week.
ReplyDeleteThe wild roses that grow around Pondside have lovely big hips that have nearly all been devoured by this time of year. In December, though, against a blue sky, they make the most beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteThe roses with the clematis is a beautiful photo. My roses are actually starting to leaf out. I didn't even have time to cut them back this year!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen...wonderful photo's! I miss all the roses I had in the city but I wouldn't give up living in the country for them. I have two old roses that were here when we bought the house (one will have to be relocated) and I planted 3 David Austin climbers last year. We'll see how they do since I had to relocate them too. Your arbor with the New Dawn roses and the clematis is gorgeous! Enjoy your Monday!
ReplyDeleteI forgot again I am so sorry as I have a very similar photo of rosehips that I took this week that would have been suitable! There certainly is plenty to appreciate, lovely words to accompany your photos.
ReplyDeleteHello Karen,
ReplyDeleteI'm a newie visiting your blog. I nipped across from Maura@Lilac Lane Cottage.
I'm currently living in the land downunder where supposedly the sun shines all the time...but not this year for some reason.
I've enjoyed my visit here today and plan to participate in the next 'Sunlit Sunday'. Hopefully the little bird will remind me :D
Hi Karen Great words with your post. It's cold and grey here at the moment but I feeling better looking at all the sunlit pictures.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo - I love the combination of roses and clematis. Can't wait till they bloom.

Absolutely stunning! Spring is on its way. Enjoy the anticipation. I always feel once the glorious spring parade starts is speeds up and goes far too quickly. I simply want to savour it this year; each day and every flower, whenever possible.
