☀Sunlit Sunday: Week 8

In the spirit of Sunlit Sunday and embracing winter, about a half dozen of us met up for a hike in one of the local conservation areas this past Thursday. It was in the minus twenties (Celsius), a beautiful cold and crisp day. While former colleagues bemoaned a day of indoor recesses, the former teacher contingent felt rather privileged to be enjoying nature on such a day.

Indoors, my bouquet of tulips is getting a bit tattered, but they made for some interesting and distinct shadows on a sunny plaster wall.

Sun or shade, Cameo doesn't care as long as she has someone to pet or brush her.

I hope you're enjoying the winter. (Or summer, if you blog from the other hemisphere!) Remember, Sunlit Sunday is meant to celebrate our current season. You're invited to link your post for others to enjoy. The sunshine needn't be literal!

Have a lovely new week.

  1. Hello, Karen!
Beautiful photos, especially the shadows of the tulips are lovely!
My today's post is not really celebrating our current season, but I hope it is acceptable.
Have a beautiful Sunday and a great week ahead!

  3. Hi Karen,

I can imagine how invigorating your hike in the wintry woods must have felt, with good company and scenic beauty. The tulip silhouette is pretty, but the rich, red hues and details of the actual subjects are what made me smile, as did Cameo's sweet face. Warm wishes for a peaceful and pretty day!

  6. I love your tattered tulips, they show beautifully, in real and shadow. Today we have a lovely sunny winterday with groundfrost again, but yesterday it was raining cats and dogs. The very wet soil and frost together are so bad for the plants in the garden, we´ll wait and see....

  7. The shadow of the tulips on the wall is beautiful isn't it! Great sunny moments. I do like to capture the sunshine moments in my posts because doing these posts makes me look out for them and I like that! In fact, I am writing my post now - just waiting for the pictures to upload - and I mentioned that in the opening paragraph! Glad that you have had sunny moments this week and been out and about with your friends! xx

  8. Embracing winter does wonders for the psyche. Complaining about it is so destructive. Kudos to you and your friends for hiking during the cold weather we have been experiencing lately. In your photos, I really like the texture of the snow under the trees and well as the tree trunks. And tulips are gorgeous even as they fade.

  11. This extreme cold weather had me remembering the many endless days of indoor recesses because it was too cold outside. We do try to get outside as much as possible as long as that wind isn't blowing.

  15. How great to get together with friends to enjoy the winter sunlight, cold as it is! Your tulips cast lovely shadows on the wall.
I'm not taking part this week - no energy for commenting, although I likely visit a few.
