☀Sunlit Sunday, my winter link-up, has been put to bed and it's time to celebrate the new season. I'll be picking my own tulips in May, but (for now) these purple ones are adding a jolt of spring to my living room. All but a few patches of snow have melted and, eventually, I imagine the ice in the rain barrel will do the same.
This morning, I dug out a wreath for the front door
and spotted a bit of yellow on the forsythia branches I'd brought inside a week or so ago. It will be quite some time before the whole shrub is ablaze with yellow.
The loveliest thing indoors is Claire, who has yet to be adopted. I was pleased that my foster girl stayed in the same room when I had a friend over yesterday. Part of me wondered if she'd run for the hills, or under the bed, but she's clearly developing the social graces!
In the garden (insert three cheers) there are snowdrops in bloom.
All is well when the snowdrops outnumber the snow patches.
It's time to move from this chair and pick a project that needs doing. I wonder what the best way is to remove paint from door hinges . . .
Oh YIPPEE ! Spring has sprung there to ! My Hyacinths are above ground and so are my Daffodils now . Like you we have a few small snow patches left , rain this afternoon for us and for tomorrow so that hopefully will wash whats snow is left ! Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteP.S Glad Claire is doing well , hope you can find a forever home for her !
ReplyDeleteI brought in some forsythia a couple days ago - waiting patiently for blooms :-)
ReplyDeleteEverything feels the spring by you...This season brings us such joy...Your photos are very lovely Karen.I wish you good luck with all you do in the house and happy week end!

I love the purple tulips and that one yellow bloom on the Forsythia. And of course, the snowdrops are a lovely sight in the garden. We are getting some melt here again today. I wonder how many days of mild temperatures and rain will take to melt down 6 feet of snow. :) You are way ahead of us here in NB but we'll catch up soon I hope. Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteClaire is such a beauty, the colour of her eyes are just wonderful. A lovely egg wreath for the frontdoor and I am glad spring is arriving at your place too.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you finally experiencing the spring. It looks like yours is a bit behind with getting the plants to wake from the winter.
ReplyDeleteOh, yippee! Spring! Snow drops! Love the tulips (great color) and your Easter Wreath. Of course, Ms. Claire steals the show with her beauty! :) :)
ReplyDeleteOh, snowdrops, how pretty they are. I know I planted some by the front door but they're gone. I hope they're not one of the bulbs squirrels dig up and move around the neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteWon't the forsythia branch be glorious when it's all in bloom? I like the egg wreath too.
Do you know Poppy from Greece? She's in Toronto for her BD and has organized a tea in Markham on the 9th, would be nice if you could come too! http://poppyview.blogspot.ca The details are on her blog.
It is so lovely to see all of your signs of spring appearing, especially your no doubt long awaited snowdrops! I am pleased to see them as ours have been and gone, so now I get to enjoy yours!! If you are longing to see forsythia, I shared mine yesterday if you want to have a look!! xx
ReplyDeleteSadly I have no forsythia bushes to snip from - but on a spring note my pussywillows are starting to open this week. I do have some tulips that are about 3 inches out of the ground - I am so hoping that there will be no more snow! Always pleasure to see Claire's little face!

Yes, all the signs of Spring, are beautiful. But darling Claire is the most beautiful. :-)))
ReplyDeleteRemove paint from door hinges?
Mmmmm, how about getting new hinges, instead?
,-)
How lovely to see spring arrive in your corner. The light on the snowdrops is beautiful. Forsythia's first golden blooms are such a welcome touch of brightness. I forced some awhile back and enjoyed them indoors. Now the bush is ablaze with yellow outside my door. So glad Claire is getting used to people.
ReplyDeleteAnd your blog look is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI love all the white, and the dark edges on the photos.
Funny... How I can love alllll white. And so seldom use it myself.
The snowdrops are lovely. Claire is a dilute calico. They are somewhat rare I am told. Gremmie is one too. I am glad your spring is bursting out, olive
ReplyDeleteYour snowdrops are so sweet! I'm glad you are seeing more signs of Spring...
ReplyDeleteTHESE snowdrops are a big welcome, as opposed to snow dropping, settling, and piling up on the ground, on table tops and car roofs! How adorable they are, a sure sign that spring has arrived, and celebrating it with fresh tulips in cheery vases, and pretty wreaths on doors, might convince it to stay, we hope, for a while, and hopefully, at least long enough for Claire's afternoon naps in the sun!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing at Afternoon Tea on Wednesday!
Have a lovely weekend!

I planted extra tulip bulbs for cut flowers. Now if they would pop up! Love your snowdrops, even those haven't arrived for me yet. I did bring in some forsythia branches last week. How long until they flower may I ask? Generally speaking. :)
ReplyDeletePretty kitty...I think that is great that she is socializing. You are a good influence on her!!
XO,
Jane
It does look like spring has arrived at your doorstep. I love snowdrops (but I am not sure why I haven't planted any in my garden!) That needs to be remedied, don't you think so?
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have met you and so many other lovely ladies through Sunlit Sunday. Claire just gets more beautiful! Your snowdrops are a welcome sight after a long winter! Blessings to you this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited because it's raining here which means we're melting the snow and cleansing! Claire is a charmer. Love those snowdrops!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are seeing some signs of spring! Love the snowdrops. Monday it was looking and feeling like spring around here. I saw my first robin and big billowy thunderheads in the sky. Today everything is covered with white again..

ReplyDeleteKaren...So happy to hear that bits of Spring are showing up in your neck of the woods. I so enjoy learning about the seasons in different parts of the world from blog-friends! Our tulips are gone giving way to Amaryllis and Irises...all lovely reminders of Spring's rebirth. Such pretty photos...and of course, the lovely Claire! She has stolen so many hearts and I wish for her a loving forever home! Smiles...Susan

Just look at your beautiful new header Karen - it's shouting out SPRING to me and pretty Claire agrees with me!
ReplyDeleteI love your images of the snowdrops, they are shy little beauties hanging their heads, with such pretty faces when we can see them!
Claire is completely at home with you now.
I admire you for caring for rescue cats and giving them a chance to find a new home where they will be appreciated and loved.
Looking forward to seeing your Spring wreath once you hang it on the door.
Enjoy your Sunday, more relaxing for you now!
