A cardio class, followed by an appointment, and a then bit of grocery shopping means that it's almost time to snuggle in on a rainy Monday,
after a brief stroll in the garden.
There are still some roses and, finally, a few sweet pea blooms. (Those of you who visit on
Facebook saw this photo.) When visiting friends in England, a few years ago, I remember the masses of sweet peas each woman grew and the fragrant bouquets brought inside. Perhaps that will be the case with my garden
next year.
I'm still enjoying tomatoes, long may they produce.
The sky may be grey, but that just enhances the brightness of these tall beauties.
The Black-eyed Susans are almost finished, but I like the red stems with the golden petals and how summer flowers merge into the next season and become a part of autumn's loveliness.
The old song says, "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down."
That doesn't hold true for me.

Beautiful remnants of summer. These are the days to hold in our hearts when the rain pounds and the wind blows. Lovely photos. Your tomatoes look good - mine are starting to not taste as sweet now, and some are spoiling on the vines. Tomato season just might be over. So sad. Have a wonderful week, Karen.

Hi Karen, Your rudbeckia, sweet peas, and roses are colorful and pretty. Your tomatoes look really nice yet. Mine are slowing down for sure. Enjoy your garden and being outside in the beauty of fall!

ReplyDeleteOn wet and rainy days you can make the most beautiful photos. Sweet peas always are wonderful, I could not do without their fragrance in summerbouquets. You still have lovely red tomatoes growing, mine are already finished. Wish you happy gardening in fall.

You still have some nice flowers left in your fall garden Karen. I went looking for something to put in our garden club flower show for last night and everything was spent or too waterlogged to be of any use.

I picked the last of our tomatoes yesterday. I read on someone's blog that it's a good idea to dig the spent plants directly into the bed and will try that this year. Elsewhere in the garden the blooms are sodden and faded, but they have their own beauty, still.

ReplyDeleteYou still have summer flowers. Your tomato look delicious! They must be sweet! We had summer temperature back for a couple of days abruptly but finally the leaves of maple leaves in my garden turned autumn colors.
