A few weeks ago, a wind storm blew a branch from my neighbour's maple tree into my yard. I figured I'd cut it into pieces so that it could be taken away with any remaining garden waste and turned into compost.
Then I had another idea.
It was time to try a craft!
I had spotted a star made from fallen twigs in a post by The Swenglish Home. (Scroll to "Lollipop Love".)
Mine is decidedly more rustic-looking.
To give a sense of scale, each of the 5 branch pieces is roughly 46 cm (18 inches).
Nevertheless, a star was born.

ReplyDeleteWonderful idea that can be used inside or out.
ReplyDeleteCute! I bought one at the market once made of dogwood twigs but it got so dried out that they kept slipping out. I finally tossed it. They would be fun to make.
ReplyDeleteKaren, your star turned out really well and is a great rustic piece for home decor - all year 'round too.

I love it! I have one pinned on Pinterest and hope to make one or more this year, too. It would look great out on the patio in the summertime, too. Rustic is so much fun.

ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Karen, How creative, to make something so lovely out of twigs you found in your garden. It is perfectly placed next to the poinsettia.....is Christmas in the air?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day, Best Wishes Daphne
Hi Karen, I am getting back to you regarding your gardening question of how one keeps up with weeding, etc. Oh my! It's tough! Well, for one thing I am retired so that helps...however, there are days when I spend 4-6 hours per day doing garden tasks. Some of those days, I wish my garden were smaller as it can be overwhelming! On the other hand, now it's cold and I'm getting bored with no gardening to do! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments and Merry Christmas!
Beth
What a great idea! I love it!

Great idea for broken branches, Karen! I have a cousin who did basically the same thing only she made a Star of David out of hers and added white lights. Very rustic and pretty too. Thanks for sharing your star at my HOME and enjoy your day.
