Woodsy Walks and Fertile Fields

I do like autumn.

There is something soul-satisfying about shuffling through the leaves on a forest floor and following a path that meanders through a myriad of trees:
elms,
oaks,
red pines
and more.

It was a glistening, golden morning filled with shimmering, fluttering dancers.
A few hills were a clear reminder that I need to walk more regularly. Are you a walker?

After the hike, I drove home by a scenic route, past many farms.

That's one thing I like about my part of the world, rural areas are nearby.

It seems I wasn't the only one appreciating the day.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments.

Here's wishing you a wonderful week and some time to enjoy the outdoors.

  1. Beautiful photos! Great scenery. I used to be a walker, but no more, don't know if I will ever be able to do what I used to do. :( xo

  4. Hi Karen,
Your photos are lovely! Hubby and I took a walk through the woods this afternoon and I too got some shots of the splendid scenery all around us. Autumn is hardly my favourite season but it certainly is beautiful! Hope your upcoming week is wonderful.

    Blessings,

  5. Love the cow. I am not a walker. Would rather be puttering in the garden I am afraid.

  6. Beautiful photos Karen. I also enjoy walking in our countryside and taking in the beautiful scenery and photographing it too! I must admit I've been very slack in the walking department the past few weeks (months!!) I must change that. I can't lose weight sitting in front of the computer! LOL Have a beautiful week.

  7. Wonderful photos, Karen! I love the first one and I love walking through the woods in the fall. But I'm not much of a walker anymore. The colors in the photo with the cows are beautiful.
    Have a great week.

  8. I like to think of myself as a walker, but haven't done too much walking lately....really, super hot summer and now a glut of rainy days. Your photos are really nice today - thanks for sharing.

  9. I really enjoyed your pictures, you live in a beautiful area! I really like the picture of the cow lying in the grass! I used to walk for exercise but now I'm just walking for pleasure and to keep my muscles from completely turning to jello! Any little bit of activity is well worth it. Thanks for sharing your day!

    XO,
    Jane

  10. What a nice walking route! Beautiful scenery, Karen. I am a walker but I tend to get stuck in a rut of walking the same route over and over (and it's not as pretty as yours, but I AM getting my exercise!) I love autumn too and your shots reflect it beautifully.

  11. I'm a walker too - today's walk was into the forest and up the hydro cut. It's a bit of a climb but the views are worth it! I enjoyed the glimpse of your walk today.

  14. Hello Karen,

Your pictures are beautiful as are the words you have penned; 'fluttering dancers'? Yes, yes, absolutely! I am a walker. I love the pace and the meditation which accompanies it. It's a good time for mulling over and discussing too.

I hope your week is a peaceful one.

I'm sorry I deleted the previous comment! A spelling mistake which irked me ;-)

  16. Good Afternoon Karen, Don't you live in a beautiful area and so close to the countryside. Your photos are beautiful and I like the one of the cow laying down. Funnily enough on Tuesday I was returning from my sewing group and it had started raining. I passed a field full of cows, but they were not enjoying the sun like yours, they were sheltering under the trees to keep themselvs dry from the rain. Have a lovely day, Best Wishes Daphne

  22. I have never been run for jogging, but I do like to walk. This is a wonderful time of year for a hike. I wish there was something other than rain in the forecast for the weekend. I would love to get outside and go for a long walk with the dogs. Have a great weekend!

  23. Such a beautiful post Karen ! I'm a countryside lover so these photos really speak to me. I'm also a lover of words and your first 3 lines so beautifully describes your walk through the woods. Beautiful ! And, last but not least, I adore cows ! You cannot begin to know how I love your last photo :) The composition is perfect with the leaves in the foreground and the cow laying just a bit farther. Really, I loved this post !
