To control the mint I installed a border around the plant and it works well. I just love fresh herbs, this summer I had oregano, basil, thyme and savory. As much as I love mint for cooking, the plants tend to be little "thugs" when it comes to growing them as they spread everywhere. I use a lot of rosemary and a tip which works for me is, they are a Mediterranean plant, so they like to be warm, but the soil needs to be on the dry side. I mix a little grit into my soil and water the plant once a week, that seems to work for me. I love the photo of the candy canes, it looks so colourful. The only way to control mint is to plant it in a pot. It's quite invasive. Roast chicken and veggies with rosemary.... ummmm love that aroma/taste.
