An Autumn Day

This weekend was a good one for exploring some of the delights my community offers. The city threw open its doors to many interesting spots. First for me was a visit to the gallery.

One church invited people in to hear the organist, while another had its bells chiming out melodies over the surrounding area.

I think I found my next car are at the automotive museum. Would you care to join me for a drive in the red beauty found in the bottom photograph? It's a 1931 Alpha Romeo.

Going further back in time, I visited some historic homes by the lake

and took in the views at the beautiful park.

All in all, it was a lovely way to spend a few hours on a sunny, autumn day.

I appreciate you taking the time to visit and welcome any comments.
If you would care to visit me on Facebook, I am here.

I'm pleased to be linking with Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

  1. What a beautifully relaxing day, with indoor entertainment and outdoor activities. Those houses are so pretty, and by the lake! Was it a historic home tour? I've never been on one and always miss them by a few weeks at Christmas, when visiting with my sister in Unionville.

  14. It was a lovely weekend for the Open Doors program and you saw some wonderful places. It seems the only things open here were places you would normally go ... the library, a couple of stores downtown ... nothing to really entice me out.

  18. Perfect! I love how you spent your weekend. Sometimes we can forget the wonderfulness that is right in our own back yards---so to speak.
For me, it was a real treat to see what your area has to offer... such beautiful places!
I especially loved those old houses :)
    Thanks for sharing.

    {p.s. I'm blogging again.. come and visit :)}

  19. Looks like a fun weekend! I love the beautiful churches. Those stained glass windows are gorgeous! I loved seeing the autos and the historic homes by the lake too. We often take for granted the "sights" in our own areas and get in the car and drive for an hour or two when we ignore the beautiful points of interests right in our own backyards. Thanks for the reminder, Karen.

  22. Good Morning Karen, What a fabulous old car, I would love to take a spin in it with you. We would certainly turn heads wouldn't we..... bright red, not a colour for the shy and retiring!
I love visiting Art galleries and you sound as if you had a wonderful time. The church was really special and there is something about pipe organ music which makes me just want to sit down and listen.
My weekend is not so interesting, I am now going to write my shopping list and I am going to the market.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Best Wishes as always.
