Petals and Paint

I decided to take a little break and head outside to the garden to see what was flowering.

Another reason was to get away from a few paint fumes. My rather worn French door, which leads to the side door and basement of my home, needed some refreshing. I painted the door jamb as well, which only accentuates the woebegone state of the stairwell. Here's hoping the door will easily close and isn't "overdressed" with a new coat of primer and two of paint.

It's time to clean up the paint cans, brushes, and drop cloths and restore some order. This would not be the time for an unexpected guest to pop by, with the exception of you, of course!

With some disarray inside, here is an updated photo of
my arbour, my harbour.

Thank you for visiting.

I'm linking with Mary for "Mosaic Monday".

  7. Hi Karen
I see you got the tedious job of masking all those panes done - you must have had a lot of patience that day. It's looking good though.
Your arbour just had to be pinned to my Gardens board, I'll enjoy looking at it many times.

  13. Good Morning Karen, Do you know, that is the problem with painting, you start one painting project, then it highlights the need to paint somewhere else.... but at least you can escape to your beautiful garden. I love your Astilbe, I have a maroon coloured Astilbe, but I have never seen a white one before, I love their feathery flowers.
Your arbor get's more beautiful each time I see it and the clematis and roses have grown so much.
Sitting in a garden, full of flowers can ease the stress of any situation.
    Best Wishes to you,
    Daphne

  17. -happy sigh- What a glorious mosaic, of your garden.

I appreciate the colors you show, in these photos. I resonate with them. :-) Interesting how some colors resonate more, than others. And we are each individual. So this can make for lovely gardens!

Oh betcha' that new punch of white paint, will be wonderful. Except... You'll want to keep going and keep going and keep going. :-) Perhaps put that off, till cooler weather though.......

Oh your arbor... Oh my gracious. How lovely and old fashioned looking. -more happy sighs-

    Happy New Moon!

  18. You certainly have lots of pretty reasons to get out into the garden Karen. That arbor with the rose and clematis is stunning! It was a great idea to add the geraniums at the base of the arbor. They add that extra touch of color from the ground up.

The peonies in my urn weren't dry in that photo, but are now. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear to my readers. I will be sharing photos of the dried ones in a future post :)
Thank you so much for your lovely message.

  21. Hi Karen, Your arbor is fantastic! The clematis sets it off, and it provides just enough of a peek into the garden so as to invite one to step inside! It's beautiful. Love your roses, clematis, and hydrangeas. Enjoy your summer!

  28. Your garden is amazing. I thought that retirement would bring my garden to perfection, but I find I still don't get to spend as much time working there as I would like. It is coming along slowly because the weeds think they have a right to be there and I am trying to teach them otherwise.

  30. Karen,
The clematis is beautiful covered in its blooms, but the entire garden is inviting us to come on in through the arbor. Those incredible huge white hydrangea blooms are magnificent. Everything looks so lush and green.
