Mosaic Monday: Looking for "Calm"

It's a bit of a jumble at My Little Home and Garden. Although the outside needs some attention, it is the inside that requires the most loving care. A good clear-out is in order. The Children's Wish Foundation picked up a couple of boxes of goodies on the weekend, but there is still much to attend to tomorrow. Motivation, that's what I could use! Just shovel a little of yours over this way, please!

There's something to be said for a reasonable amount of order. It's calming.

That's what I want in my little brick house: a calm, cozy, welcoming home. Well-ordered, but embracing happy projects that are underway. And some "pretty". I've seen many beautiful photographs of where you live. What is one of your favourite ways for making your house a home? I'd love to read and test drive a few ideas!

Monday is a new day, a bud full of hope. I look forward to reading your suggestions. As I'm linking with Little Red House for Mosaic Monday, I know I'm tapping into a fine, thoughtful group!

Thanks to all who've come to visit, however you found your way to my garden.

  1. Oh, my garden is a mess right now - we are so dry and hot, the crabgrass has taken over. Lovely pictures!

  2. What pretty flowers!
I trust that you're having a well-deserved rest after that big clear-out. I've been doing something similar, a little at a time.

  3. Gorgeous blooms and color. It's a lot of work to clear things out, but what a relief when it's done. Pat yourself on the back!

  4. I love how you illustrated your thoughts about order using your mosaics. Oh, I have terrible messes here some days, but one of the things that helps me as I enter my home is to look at it as if I had never seen it before. That helps get me focused. All the best with your goal!

  5. Your mosaic is full of color and life - much like a busy home. I try to remember to put things away as I use them rather than having a big mess to clean up all at once. And each evening, I like to straighten up the rooms before heading off to bed.

  6. Mess is part and parcel of life, and certainly part and parcel of home life. Eventually you find order and it's wonderful, even if it's just for a moment or two. I find when it's time to clean up and clear out, a wander around the garden with a cuppa makes me feel re-charged.

  8. The inside of the home does take a back seat when the weather is good here. We have all winter to get the inside to rights. Love the snapshot mosaic. V

  10. Karen, Good day...
It seems there are a lot of us these days who are yearning for calm in our lives...to sweep away the clutter in our environments, and in our minds. To experience that "Peace which surpasses all understanding".

I, too, wish my dwelling place to be cozy, sunny, bright and cheery, and, as you said, a welcoming home. Flowers are a good place to start, and yours are lovely!

    Blessings,
    Marianne

  13. Flowers are always so calming! Yours are very beautiful. I've always loved the bible verse "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin."
My favorite way to make my house a home is to be happy with what i have and to keep my spirit happy for all those who enter to feel welcome and loved.
